VICON VICTORY AT BCS & COMPUTING AWARDS

18 November 2009, Oxford, UK: Vicon, the Academy Award winning provider of motion capture systems for the Entertainment, Engineering and Life Science industries is pleased to announce its flagship camera, the T-Series, has won Best New Product Developed in the UK at the BCS & Computing Awards 2009.

Held at the famous Battersea Park Events Arena, this award recognizes significant achievement in business technology product development by UK IT professionals. With 10 finalists in this category, the Vicon T-Series wowed the judges by demonstrating the impressive measurable benefit for customers.

The T-Series, launched last year, proved a genuine technological breakthrough and has customers all over the world. The technology inside the T-Series gives clinicians, engineers and animation artists four times more resolution, the ability to capture smaller objects in larger volumes, and can process data ten times faster than any other motion capture camera on the market.

Nick Bolton, CEO at Vicon’s parent company, Oxford Metrics Group said: “We’re delighted to have won Best New Product Developed in the UK. It’s a great reward for all the hard work and years of research and development that went into it creating the T-Series.

“We also won the International Design Forum Award in December 2008. This has been a great 12 months for Vicon products.”

Douglas Reinke, CEO of Vicon added: “I’m very proud that the dedication and hard work of the Development and Product team has been recognized by the BCS. Vicon strives for innovation in every aspect of our business and the T-Series is an exemplary product to highlight this."

The UK IT Industry Awards see a new venture between BCS and Computing, merging the BCS IT Industry Awards and the Computing Awards for Excellence to create one platform for the entire profession to celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence.

David Clarke, Chief Executive Officer of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, said: “This year’s Awards have been exceptional. I was delighted to take part in the judging day and witness firsthand the quality of the winners and medalists. To qualify as a finalist is terrific, to win is an absolutely fantastic achievement, and I offer my heartfelt congratulations to all those took part. They not only provide examples of best practice but also demonstrate how IT is enabling today’s information society from entertainment to healthcare, manufacturing to retail.”
